Initial 8 hr. EPA Renovate, Repair and Paint

EPA’s Lead Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule (RRP Rule) requires that firms performing renovation, repair, and painting projects that disturb lead-based paint in homes, child care facilities and pre-schools built before 1978 have their firm certified by EPA, use certified renovators who are trained by EPA-approved training providers and follow lead-safe work practices.

If you are a residential rental property owner, a general contractor, a remodeler, a painter, a plumber, an electrician, or any trade that disturbs lead based paint by performing repair work, remodeling, electrical work, plumbing, painting, carpentry, and window replacement, or anything else that has the potential to disturb lead based paint – you need this certification.

This is the EPA’s initial 8-hour certification course designed to inform you about lead based paints, and how to properly work in homes that contain lead based paints. At the end of the course of study and with a passing score on the exam, you will be a certified renovator.

Course includes:

  • Course workbook.
  • EPA renovator certification upon successful completion of course.

Contractor Survival Guides

Congratulations, you have passed the MN Residential Contractors Exam! Now what? Long gone are the days when being a residential home builder, remodeler, or roofer meant getting up in the morning and going to the job site and pounding nails and the biggest threat was walking into the back end of
a board. Today’s modern builder needs to be well versed in all the risks and rewards offered to them in one of the most self-fulfilling occupations left to the entrepreneur, the Professional Home Builder.

ProEd’s Residential Contractor Survival Guide is a mulit-day, three-course series that takes a more developed view of the risks and rewards facing the licensed residential contractor in today’s
Minnesota work environment.

Contractor Survival Guide, Course One: The Laws that govern licensed Minnesota Contractors.

Laws, Rules, & Governmental Departments Pertaining to Licensed Minnesota Residential Contractors.

Course One covers the basics to the advanced when it comes to understanding the laws and rules that Minnesota contractors are required to adhere to. Starting out with some key Federal laws and rules that cannot be ignored and rapidly moving into the state of MN suite of departments that have regulatory oversite of contractors.

Also covered in this first 7-hour course are the key state and local municipality employees, as well as which portion of the state code, or local ordinances they are responsible for. The day’s curriculum discusses how the state comes about to divide up these different but equally important categories of laws, rules, and ordinances.
Included in the day is the answer to every contractor’s biggest knowledge quest, what does a legally enforceable Minnesota Contract look like? What should it include, how is it delivered and accepted, and what must be done to ensure the rights to collect for services rendered are all topics covered in this portion of the class.

Course One is the first of a three-course offering and has been submitted to MN Dept. of Labor & Industry for 7 credit hours of CE for Licensed Residential Contractors, Remodelers, Roofers, Electricians, Plumbers, and Building Officials. Course One does not contain an hour energy hour.

Contractor Survival Guide Course Two: The Minnesota Building Code.

Professional Education Resources’ Contractor Survival Guide Course Two: The Minnesota Building Code is the second course in the three-part Survival Guide series and takes an in-depth introductory look at the 2015 MN Residential Building Code.

Understanding how to quickly access the information you need from the code starts with understanding how to use the code as a reference document. Course Two starts with the three keys to success to unlocking the information you need to erect or remodel a code compliant home.

The second part of Survival Guide Two moves into MN Rules, specifically the 1300 block of Rules; Chapter 1300, Chapter 1303, Chapter 1322, and Chapter 1309. The course attendee will gain a working knowledge of what Rules are, who writes the rules, and then specifically what these four specific Rules mean to licensed MN Contractors.

The Third part of the course focuses in on Chapters 2-10 and addresses the major points of each chapter helping to build a basic understanding of how each chapter is laid out, and more importantly – what each chapter addresses.
